"Come to Guiseppe’s barbershop, where for just a few dollars you will get a stylish haircut, some cutting humour and sharp insights. Places like Guiseppe’s are like home and when they are under threat it’s time to discover what makes a family, and the men within them, survive and endure."

 

Haircuts is an intelligent ethnic comedy-drama, where characters are played true to type. Their challenges are modern day issues of a changing world and their struggle to maintain their place within it.

 

Haircuts is a full length extension of the successful short play which was second in the  2009 Short + Sweet Sydney Gala Final, and was performed at the 2009 Edinburgh Comedy Festival.

LEX MARINOS

Les is a legend of Australian telelvision and theatre. Lex is known on television for Kingswood Country, and recently, The Slap and has appeared on many local drama and comedy productions, including regular roles in City West, Embassy, S.C.O.O.P, Live & Sweaty, Ballzup, World Series Debating; Strictly Dancing, Histrionics, and Late Night Legends. Films include Cathy’s Child, Goodbye Paradise, Last Days of Chez Nous, Bedevil and numerous short films.

CON NATS

Con Nats has been actively writing short stories and short plays since 1996. He has won short story awards for The Rocks, and Just Me. In 2005, Twister featured at the Crypt Theatre, Balmain, while a radio version, Stuck In A Twist, was presented on  ABC Radio's Night Air. Haircuts(directed by Con) made the 2009 Movie Extra Gala Final (Best Actor) and was taken to the Edinburgh Festival in August 2009;. The Pond was performed in  Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane Short and Sweet Gala Finals in 2012 collecting Best Drama and Best Actor awards.

ADAM HATZIMANOLIS

Adam has worked extensively with Sydney’s pioneer theatre of cultural diversity, Sidetrack Performance Group; (including Adios Cha Cha, The Promised Woman, The Uncle from Australia, Flight Path Daze, Kin, Skitsobumski, Alkestis, The Book Keeper, etc. Adam was a lead in Mike Leigh’s Greek Tragedy 1990, London and the Edinburgh Festival. In 2008 he performed in Urban Theatre Projects’ The Last Highway for the Sydney Festival,  and in Company B Belvoir Sts’ Scorched (dir; Neil Armfield). In 2009,Tales from The AfterLives (with Brian Eno, Vivid Fest, Syd Opera House), and during 2009-11 Bulldog Theatre’s Alex and Eve parts 1, 2 and3. In 2012 he stood out in Vernon God Little (New Theatre, dir; Louise Fischer). Adam won Best Actor for his role as Guiseppe in 2009.

JOHN DERUM

John began his professional career in 1963 acting in theatre, radio and television and has now acted, directed and produced for theatre companies throughout Australia and for television for over half a century.On television, his appearances include: Episode 1 of Homicide in 1964 to roles in G.P. and Mother and Son in the 1990s. He played B.A.Santamaria in True Believers (1987) and Francis James in The Gadfly (1990). He was in the final edition of the legendary The Mavis Bramston Show (1975) and a number of comedy and revue series including The Thursday Creek Mob (1969-70), The True Blue Show (1975), Doctors Down Under (1979), The Aunty Jack Show (1971-72) and Ratbags (1982). John was Artistic Director of the Canberra Company Theatre ACT’ in 1985-86. And was awarded a Literary Fellowship at the Australian Defence Force Academy (University of NSW) in 1990. In 2014 he produced LEGEND! by Pat Sheil and played the only character, the outrageous raconteur, Slips Cordon and garnered a range of strong reviews.

 

RICHARD HILLIAR 

 

A graduate of the University of Western Sydney (Theatre Nepean), recent credits include The Crucible and A Midsummer Nights Dream (Sport for Jove), Shakespeare's Reservoir Dogs (The Vanguard), Brother Daniel (Collaborations Theatre Company), Phaedra (Lies, Lies and Propaganda), Hamlet, The Merchant of Venice and Othello (Sydney Shakespeare Company), The Tempest (Steampunked), Jesus and Hedda Gabler (Factotum), Great Expectations (bAKEHOUSE), Metamorphoses (Apocalypse Theatre Company), Miss Julie, A Midsummer Night's Dream, In the Slaughterhouse of Love and As You Like It (No White Elephant), Lucy Black(subtlenuance) and Hamlet, The Taming of the Shrew, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Twelfth Night, Much Ado About Nothing andThe Comedy of Errors (Sydney Shakespeare Festival).
